Be warned:in this very rich environment where you can immerse yourself so completely, your emotions will become engaged -- and not everyone is cognizant of that. Among the many excellent features of SL, there is no auto-return on hearts, so be wary of where your's wanders...

when it gets too real...

Today is the 9th day of the 6th month, the 161st day of 2016, and:
Quote of the day:  “Never forget the three powerful resources you always have available to you: love, prayer, and forgiveness.”  ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

In 411 BC a coup overthrew the democratic government of ancient Athens and replaced it with a short-lived oligarchy known as The Four Hundred.  In 68 Nero committed suicide [his last words were said to be “what an artist dies in me!”], ending the Julio-Claudian dynasty and starting the civil war known as the Year of the Four Emperors.  in 1534 Jacques Cartier sailed into the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, looking for gold and a northwest passage to the Orient; names the river for St. Lawrence on his feast day. In 1537 Pope Paul III declared in his encyclical Veros homines that Indians are "truly men", beings with the qualities and faults of other humans; they should not be enslaved, and should receive the Roman Catholic faith.   In  1732 James Oglethorpe was granted a royal charter for the colony of the future US state of Georgia.  In 1959 the first nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, USS George Washington, is launched.

Today I am learning about triggers – one of the bloggers I follow has checked into a facility because she is worried about harming herself [no I am not going to link to her blog even though she posted about it].  Got me to thinking about how to recognize mine and how to cope with the implosion when one of those deep-seated fear  trip-wires are inadvertently sprung.  Not like you can avoid them -- even with good intentions,  someone can hit the spot  or you can even trigger yourself  [yup, self- talk is a dangerous activity at times] – and suddenly you are floundering in a toxic stew of internal combustion, while your body deals with a rather muddy mixture of adrenalin et al.  Sometimes I think our psyche is  more like a minefield rather than a playground!   And for someone like me who lives in their head and/or imagination so much, that is a pretty strong statement.   While the mind does control the body, the body also works on the mind, breaking that  feedback loop of mind-to-body-to-mind  is essential in stopping a downward spiral it seems to me.  That can sometimes be a bit of a challenge because the body just doesn’t pay attention once your head figures it all out.  Seriously, instead of getting with the program, it just goes right on reacting and making you feel wretched.   I’m guessing this is why folks do things that are incomprehensible at times – drunkenness, drugs or suicide come to mind first – because they just want to make it stop and don’t know how.

I always told my kids that “life is not fair, cope” knowing full well that little piece of advice is a lot harder than it sounds.  So is “one day at a time” sometimes.   Best to know your triggers and how they impact you ahead of time so that you don’t get blindsided, neh?
