Be warned:in this very rich environment where you can immerse yourself so completely, your emotions will become engaged -- and not everyone is cognizant of that. Among the many excellent features of SL, there is no auto-return on hearts, so be wary of where your's wanders...

true love....

Today is the 6th day of the 6th month, the 158th day of the year with only 201 shopping days left until Christmas.  Today is also:
  • "Thank God It's Monday" Day [always the first Monday in June]
  • Atheist Pride Day
  • D-Day  -- but do you know the meaning of the “D”?
  • Drive-in Movie Day – in 1933 the first drive-in theater opened in Camden, New Jersey
  • National Applesauce Cake Day
  • National Gardening Exercise Day
  • National Higher Education Day
  • National Hunger Awareness Day
  • National Yo-yo Day – Donald Duncan did not invent this toy, or even name it, but we celebrate this day on his birthday because he was the one who mass-marketed it.
  • Ramadan –  This major Islamic religious holiday actually started at sundown last night with the sighting of the new moon, and this year’s observance coincides with the summer solstice which will make the fasting during the day very long indeed [the longest in 33 years according to the BBC]
  • Russian Language Day – one of the language days set by the UN -- coincides with the birthday of Aleksandr Pushkin, a Russian poet who is considered the father of modern Russian literature
In 1508 Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor, was defeated in Friuli by Venetian troops.  1833 Andrew Jackson became the first US President to ride on a train.  In 1968 Bobby Kennedy died from gunshot wounds inflicted on June 5 while he was campaigning for president.  IN 1984 Tetris, one of the best-selling video games of all time, was first released in the USSR.

Do you remember the first time you announced to your parents that you were going to get married?  My granddaughter and her friend have let their parents know that is the plan at the tender age of three years old.  I was seven when Dan Dudek and I decided that we were in love – unfortunately his parents and mine were not that close, they didn’t live in the same neighborhood so we didn’t go to school together, and we lost track of each other within the year even though we shared our first kiss together.  But, what if?  What if first kisses were really magic and Dan and I are still fated to find each other?  What if an attraction is so strong that it can resonate across multiple timelines?   What if the social contract is real, that you do indeed decide as souls where and when you will be born, and the two of you decide to be born in the same time and place so that you will be together?  What if you really are childhood sweethearts that grow up to be wed and you build a life together all of your days?  Would you want that?

I have been binge watching Once Upon a Time over the past week or so, and there are three themes, three things that are reiterated constantly throughout all the episodes, throughout all the seasons:
  • True love is the most powerful magic of them all
  • I will always find you
  • All magic comes with a price
Would you be willing to be with just one person for your entire life, until death do you part?  Would you be willing to take the risks of loving that completely, that thoroughly, that dedicatedly?  Would you think the price worth it?  I look at the snapshot of those two three year olds  together, frozen in time, looking into each other’s eyes, and my eyes fill with tears – and I hope with all my heart that theirs will be a different story than 99% of us, that they truly have found one another and will stay together.

And by the way -- Dan, wherever you are, I hope that you are happy with the path that your life has taken!
