Be warned:in this very rich environment where you can immerse yourself so completely, your emotions will become engaged -- and not everyone is cognizant of that. Among the many excellent features of SL, there is no auto-return on hearts, so be wary of where your's wanders...

putting things in categories....

In the "don't believe everything you read" category
:  Have you noticed the increase in studies that are making conclusions about everything from the way aging affects your brain to the impact of  our lives online on how we relate to people?  Ever wonder how accurate all this information really is?  "‘Published' and ‘true' are not synonyms," said Brian Nosek, a psychology professor at the University of Virginia.

OTOH, I am trying to decide if this man is a crackpot or a visionary.  OTOH?  This man is definitely bonkers!

And there there is the selling of a "lifetime" subscription....

In the category of "a second life":    Altho this article pinpoints SL specifically, there are many other companies that are working on delivering Virtual Reality as an OpenSim product, giving companies their very own world to play in.  interesting comment on the last name JIRA was made by one of the commenters:  "He [the CEO] is treating SL like Facebook- and we are not the customer, we are the product being sold.".  And http://primperfectblog.wordpress.com/2012/08/17/but-all-my-friends-are-called-resident/http://primperfectblog.wordpress.com/2012/08/17/but-all-my-friends-are-called-resident/">the problems with everyone being called "Resident" continue....  But it really doesn't make a difference, becuase I happen to agree with the final thoughts of this blogger -- LL is changing how SL is presented and thus changing the way in which residents interact.  This screenshot from an old video pretty much does say it all, neh?  I may need to reactivate my InWorldz account.

When a company makes a major change, they are asking me to do something differently, to become a different consumer/customer/user.  How this impacts the way in which I tell my stories in my life is the determining factor on whether I remain a customer or perhaps become a raving fan.  What is the future of story-telling?

Being able to print out and then snap together a house is surrealistic, isn't it?  Maybe I didn't waste my time with those Lincoln Logs after all.

Feel like folding?

This quote says it all:  "Never make a policy you can't enforce".  Schools and businesses take heed!  This is especially timely at the point where Federal agencies think they have the right not not only pry on what goes on at work, but on their employees' home PC as well.

In the category of "The final frontier":   Private funding for space using gamification -- interesting idea.  Wait, http://www.moondaily.com/reports/LRO_Spectrometer_Detects_Helium_in_Moons_Atmosphere_999.htmlhttp://www.moondaily.com/reports/LRO_Spectrometer_Detects_Helium_in_Moons_Atmosphere_999.html">the moon has an atmosphere?  Somehow the fact that the Russian Prime Minister just ordered an end to the problems for the space industry tickled my funny bone -- improvement by fiat!

You think that the economy is recovering?  WalMart just missed their second quarter projections as their "lower-income customers in the U.S. contend with high gasoline prices and persistently high unemployment levels"    What caught my attention was the comment about the paycheck cycle they have documented:  "where customers buy immediately after payday and then make smaller purchases as money runs out."
