There are two observations that I have made since the beginning of the current economic turmoil.



The first was that it was going to be a two-prong whammy -- drop then recovery then drop again.   I based that on what I saw happen back in 1989 when the real estate values fell dramatically and the tech stocks plummetted.  About 18 months later, the small businesses could no longer stay afloat using personal credit, credit cards and trade payables and started to fold....



The second is that we cannot save our way out of a depression.   Herbet Hoover did everything the Tea Party suggested, trying to preserve the wealthy.   It didn't work then and it is not going to work now.  IMNSHO, a robust middle class is necessary for prosperity and it is that middle class that is being currently squeezed out of existance
