While nothing on the Internet is ever truly private, both of those networks have controls for those things such as they are. 2) Your friend is right. A simple google search on your name will turn up this blog. You're kidding yourself if you think employers only look at LinkedIn. If you post something like this publicly, you should assume anyone both can and will find it.
